Inglis letter to FAA & Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN)

U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) said Wednesday he’s pleased the Senate Aviation Operation, Safety, and Security Subcommittee announced it will hold hearings on June 10 and June 17 in the wake of Continental Flight 3407 crash near Buffalo last February.

In support of Scott Maurer of Moore who lost his daughter, Lorin, Inglis has called for hearings in letters to the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Rep. James Oberstar (D-MN), Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.

“It’s important to insist on the best, most feasible technology when it comes to safety,” Inglis said. “Our community and communities across America are mourning the loss of life on Continental Flight 3407, so icing accidents hit close to home."

“The NTSB has made a number of recommendations and the FAA has taken a number of regulatory steps to reduce dangers to aircraft flying in icy conditions, but these concerns have been pending for at least 13 years.”
