Definition
Unique identifier of the Instrument Supplemental .
 
Syntax

Specifications
  • Required field.
  • May be used only once.
  • 1 to 31 alphanumeric characters from the printable UTF-8 character set, except ">"
  • Should be written in all capital letters.
  • Must be selected from the Instrument valids (see Appendix A) if updating the document.
 
Recommendations
  • The instrument identifiers (short names) are semicontrolled; i.e. new instrument identifiers may only be added if the instrument does not already appear in the Instrument Valids List.
  • The identifier is usually a mnemonic or abbreviated version of the long name. When submitting a new identifier, always check the Instrument Valids List to ensure mutual exclusivity among instrument short names. No two instruments may have the same short name.
