Net Neutrality Open Thread

June 1st, 2006 by Press Staff

Congress will most likely debate net neutrality in the very near future. Since y’all reading this blog no doubt have an opinion on the issue, please leave your thoughts on this thread and make sure to say where you’re from (e.g., Savannah, GA or San Diego, CA).

Congressman Kingston has asked us to print off this thread for his review before he takes a stand on the issue.

After all, we’ll no doubt hear from the lobby community on this issue - but what about from the folks who don’t have a lobbyist - you?

May 31st, 2006 by Press Staff

Jon Henke over at QandO certainly thinks we’re doing something right. We’ll keep plugging away…

What do you all think of a Congressman using a blog to communicate?

Go ahead. Leave a comment. We won’t tell.

Are You A Member Of JackNation?

May 28th, 2006 by Press Staff

Ok, Ok, we’re only joking about the whole “JackNation” tag (we just finished watching the latest episode of diggnation), but seriously, if you haven’t yet registered to comment on this space, why not do so right now.

There’s a LOT going on right now in your neck of the woods and Jack wants to know about it.

Open Thread: Illegal Immigration

May 25th, 2006 by Press Staff

There’s a lot going on right now - this is your chance to let Jack know how you feel…

Perhaps this is a good point of discussion:

It’s clear the purpose is to reach an agreement that can give security, that can give legality, that can give flow to the migrant people,” Mr. Fox said in Spanish on his second day of a four-day visit to the Western U.S. “I think we are closer to the end of this route. This is a shared responsibility, the immigration reform.

You Asked For It. We’re Delivering.

May 10th, 2006 by Press Staff

A few months ago, one of our commenters recommended that Congressman Kingston hold a virtual town hall meeting where blog readers and constituents could call-in, ask questions, and participate.

On Wednesday TONIGHT, from 7-8 PM (EST) we’re going to do just that and we want you to participate.

Some of the topics we expect to discuss include (but everything’s on the table):

  • The Need To Control Our Nation’s Borders to Prevent Illegal Immigration and Criminal Activity.
  • The Rising Price of Gasoline and the Need to Help America Realize Its Fuel Independence.
  • The New, Voluntary Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit.

If you would like to participate on the call, please send a quick email to Kingston (dot) Press (dot) office (at) mail (dot) house (dot) gov and we will send you the call details.

FOLLOW-UP: Should Companies Rely On Illegal Aliens For Their Workforce?

May 7th, 2006 by Press Staff

On May 1, hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants (and their supporters) took to America’s streets to protest Congress’ efforts to help control our nation’s borders. In doing so, a handful of companies were forced to close their doors due to a worker shortage.

That day, Reps. Jack Kingston and Marsha Blackburn sent a letter to the Administration urging them to investigate any business which had closed shop.

Human Events has followed-up on that story and has posted a follow-up discussion on their website with a Q & A session with Amanda Carpenter and several U.S. Senators.

We’re going to categorize this story as a must read.

After you read the responses…errrrr…non-responses as the case may be…drop back in and weigh in on this thread.
