Important Benefits News and Updates

• On January 1, 2010, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBS of NM) will become the Laboratory's medical insurance carrier, replacing United Healthcare and Anthem Blue Cross. Most of us will enjoy two major benefits from this change: reduced premiums and access to a larger provider network nationwide.

  Every LANS employee and retiree must make an active election for BCBS of NM during this fall's Open Enrollment for medical coverage to continue into 2010. Open enrollment will take place November 2 to December 4 for active employees.

  Remember, you must take active steps during the upcoming Open Enrollment this fall. If you take no action, you and your dependents will default to no medical coverage.
