The following project requests were submitted for funding to the Subcommittee. At this point, all decisions whether to accept the requested projects and, if so, the amount of funding that will be assigned, is determined by the Subcommittee. The amounts displayed do not represent a final award.

Purdue University is seeking $1,281,885 for scientific and instruction equipment for the International Center for Food Technology Development to Expand Markets. The Center will be focused on developing and using new processing technologies to enhance food quality and to expand markets in countries of strategic and humanitarian interest to the United States. This project serves taxpayers by developing better technology to reduce food waste in foreign countries, thereby reducing the need for foreign food aid to countries that are able to deploy these technologies.

Purdue University is seeking $730,000 for equipment and educational support for Integrated Economic Environmental and Technical Analysis of Sustainable Biomass. This research will determine how Indiana and the Midwest can contribute to the national goal of generating 25 percent of our energy from renewable sources by 2025 and will examine how biomass production and conversion would affect the economy and environment of the region. This project serves taxpayers by reducing our dependence on foreign fuel sources.

Purdue University is seeking $893,400 for equipment, supplies and expenses for the Midwest Center for Bioenergy Grasses. The Center provides research and education dedicated to optimizing bioenergy crops for their end-use in biofuels production. This project serves taxpayers by reducing our dependence on foreign fuel sources.
