Colorado Springs, CO – Congressman Doug Lamborn (Colorado Springs) issued the following statement regarding the study, Tax Increases Ahead: The Impact of the House Budget Resolution, By Congressional District, issued yesterday by the Heritage Foundation:

“The Bush tax cuts have been a boon to the American economy. It is irresponsible for the Democrats to do away with these cuts and raise taxes on over-burdened, hard-working citizens as a way to pay for unnecessary, increased spending” said Rep. Lamborn. “This recent report by the Heritage Foundation is a sobering prediction for the American people and my constituents in Colorado Springs. I hope that my colleagues across the aisle heed its warnings before inflicting harm on our economy and citizens.”

According to the projections of this report, the economy of the Fifth Congressional District stands to lose about $236 million as a result of an almost $3,000 tax increase for the average taxpayer. This tremendous drain on the economy will result in the loss of 2,283 jobs within Colorado Springs and its outlying areas.

“This report makes the passage a fiscally responsible Taxpayer Bill of Rights even more urgent. I will continue to fight to protect the American taxpayers from the Democrats’ unwarranted grabs at their money.”
