Lamborn Statement on Supreme Court Decision to Uphold the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Doug Lamborn issued the following statement today regarding the U.S. Supreme Court Decision to uphold the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003:

“The decision today by the Supreme Court is a tremendous victory for the unborn and the pro-life movement. I applaud the Court’s decision to uphold this ban on an inhumane and morally deplorable procedure. Partial-birth abortion is a particularly gruesome method in which the infant is partially delivered before being killed.

“Four different times over my 12 years in the Colorado State Legislature, I attempted to ban post-viability abortions. This decision by the Supreme Court validates these efforts and strengthens my resolve and that of my fellow pro-life colleagues to continue our struggle on behalf of the unborn.

“This is a tremendous step towards ending an astonishingly horrific practice in our country. It is my hope that today’s ruling will spur legislation, at all levels of government to further protect innocent life.”
