Acting Chief of Staff, Office of the Director

As the acting chief of staff for CDC, Louis Salinas is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the Office of the Director. He helps resolve issues that cross organizational lines, determine policy and program objectives, coordinate decision-making processes, and maintain a focus on the highest priority initiatives.

Before becoming the acting chief of staff, Mr. Salinas served as deputy director for the Division of Oral Health (DOH) from May 2008 to June 2009. Prior to joining DOH, Louis was deputy director for the Division of Adolescent and School Health within the NCCDPHP, a position he had held since 2004. Assigned to CDC headquarters since 1986, he has extensive domestic and international public health experience that includes stints with the NCHHSTP; the Global AIDS Program; the Division of International Health in the Epidemiology Program Office; and the NCCDPHP Division of Reproductive Health. Louis has an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas-Austin and a master′s degree in Public Administration from California State University-Long Beach.
