LESOKAI

LESOKAI logo.

Computes the static and dynamic thermal transmission properties of simple building components, estimates the risk of water vapour condensation and mould growth, and checks if the component complies with the Swiss SIA 180 standard. It also allows the calculation of optimal thickness in terms of energy or cost. Calculations are performed according to the most recent European standards. Included is a comprehensive materials data base. Lesokai 4 is part of the LESO series, and has the same user interface as Lesosai. Screen Shots

Keywords

thermal tranmission, water vapor, building envelope

N/A

Expertise Required

Understanding of basic building physics.

Users

More than 120 users since first version was distributed in 1987.

Audience

Architects, building physics consultants, engineers.

Input

Material and thickness of each layer of the building components entered via graphic user interface dialog boxes. The component may have several sections.

Output

Full report including results of thermal calculations under steady state and harmonic boundary conditions, water vapour pressure across the component, condensation zones, monthly amount of condensed and evaporated water, optimal thickness. Schematic drawing of the component.

Computer Platform

PC-compatible, 486 or higher, Windows 95 or higher.

Programming Language

Visual Basic

Strengths

User-friendly interface, comprehensive materials database including several composite materials. Expandable user's database. German and French versions.

Weaknesses

Limited to components sections made of homogeneous parallel and plane layers. Thermal bridges are detected, but not calculated by this program. No English version yet.
