Trade

Senator Dorgan supports fair trade and plenty of it, but insists that it be mutually beneficial trade. He believes that America’s trading partners must open their markets to our products, and American companies must be prevented from moving U.S. jobs overseas to take advantage of sweatshop labor and conditions that allow them to dump chemicals into the air and water.

Senator Dorgan understands that in order for America to be competitive in the next century, we must reduce our record trade deficits, which are currently the highest in recorded history. He has fought against flawed trade agreements, and is working to advance legislation that seeks to force a change in direction for trade policy.
