2009 Award–Winning Artwork on Display
Each spring, artwork created by some of the most talented young artists in North Dakota is selected for the 2009 Northern Visions Award sponsored by Senator Byron Dorgan.
Jurors choose pieces from among 700 pieces of art nominated by North Dakota teachers of kindergarten through high school students. The selection process is held annually at the North Dakota Juried Student Art Show, which is hosted at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot.
Below are the winners of the 2009 Northern Visions Award. These pieces are currently displayed in Senator Dorgan’s offices.
Self Portrait
David Foster of Minot is a student at Erik Ramstad Middle School. David's work entitled Self Portrait is done in pencil.
Roses
Nathaniel Engh of Minot is a student at Longfellow Elementary. His piece entitled Roses is done in tempra paint.
The Lawfirm
This linoleum print piece was created by Sam Erickson. Sam is a student at Grand Forks Central.
Hunting Season
Hunting Season was created by Alex Bahl using acrylic. Alex is a student at Bishop Ryan High School. Alex is from Minot.
The Singer
The Singer was created by Jamie Bowen, using colored pencil. Jamie is a student at Valley City High School.
