Photo DetailsOn the day after the Senate passed a package of bills to improve rail service and safety across the country, Senator Lautenberg joins House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Jim Oberstar (D-MN; left) and Congresswoman Corrine Brown (D-FL) to urge President Bush to sign the rail package into law. The rail bills, which were championed by Lautenberg in the Senate, will increase funding for Amtrak over the next five years, require new safety controls on trains that help reduce crashes and allow states to regulate solid waste processing facilities along rail lines.
