Fermilab Friends for Science Education: Programs

Fermilab Friends for Science Education, in partnership with Fermilab and area educators, designs and conducts programs to enhance the teaching and learning of science and mathematics at the precollege level. FFSE holds assessment workshops with educators to determine local needs, writes funding proposals and provides appropriate assistance during the conduct of the program. FFSE has, since its inception in 1983, sponsored more than 30 programs; most of them are still offered today. FFSE supports the Leon M. Lederman Science Education Center at Fermilab, home for Fermilab precollege programs.

Students: We provide opportunities to reinforce classroom instruction, enhance science literacy, participate in research and develop career awareness.

Teachers: We provide programs to learn science, participate in research and hold internships and develop instructional materials. In addition, the Teacher Resource Center provides assistance and resource materials and hands-on experience with the Internet.

Families: We offer informal classes, and a collection of hands-on exhibits is open to the public.
