Latest Information on H1N1 Influenza ("Swine Flu")

Updated on Thursday, August 6 at 1:15 p.m.

On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 6 in response to the ongoing global spread of H1N1 Influenza ("Swine Flu"). A Phase Six pandemic declaration is based on the sustained worldwide spread of H1N1, not the severity of illness caused by the virus.

In New Jersey, there have been 977 confirmed cases of H1N1 and 19 deaths.

While the investigation continues into the spread of these illnesses, here are some resources to keep you informed:

Swine Flu. Flash Player 9 is required.

In addition, the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services opened a toll-free, 24-hour hotline to answer questions from the general public and New Jersey health care providers.

The hotline number is (866) 321-9571.
