Oceans Subcommittee Announces Seattle Field Hearing on Climate Change Effects on Washington State
|
|
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard will hold a field hearing on the Effects of Climate Change on Marine and Coastal Ecosystems in Washington on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., in Seattle, Wash. Subcommittee Chair Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) will preside. The full witness list is below.
The hearing will examine the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems in the state of Washington. Witnesses will testify on the effects of climate change and ocean acidification on marine ecosystems in Puget Sound and coastal Washington, how these processes are changing ecosystem functions, and what impacts the changes are having on coastal communities and living marine resources.
