KINGSTON SPEAKS AT GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE
Congressman Awarded “Minuteman” Commendation

Washington, Jun 16 -

Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA/01) spoke at the National Guard Association of Georgia’s 61st Annual Conference on Jekyll Island on Saturday, June 13.  This year’s conference theme was “Soldiers, Airmen and Families Matter” and Congressman Kingston spoke to the audience on topics such as joint cargo aircraft and the Tricare reduced age for retirement.  Congressman Kingston was also awarded the Minuteman Trophy for his hard work in support of the Georgia National Guard, the highest honor given by the association.

“I am honored to receive the Minuteman award and to speak to this group of men and women who serve an integral part in our country’s security at home and abroad,” Congressman Kingston said.  “Guardsmen are some of the most dedicated members in our line of defense and are crucial in the welfare of our country.”

The business session of the conference was conducted on Saturday and featured professional development seminars as well as updates from government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs and Humana.  Attendees also received updates on the State of the Guard from various members of the Georgia leadership; some of these include Major General Scott Hammond, Assistant Adjutant General of the Georgia Air National Guard, Major General Terry Nesbitt, Adjutant General of Georgia, and Brigadier General Maria Britt, Commanding General of the Georgia Army National Guard.

“We appreciate Congressman Kingston for his support the Georgia National Guard and to the country’s military as a whole,” said Marshall Kennemer, Executive Director of the National Guard Association of Georgia.  “We are honored to award the Minuteman trophy to a true patriot that fights not only for our soldiers, but for what is right in general.”

The purpose of the National Guard Association of Georgia is to promote the mission of the National Guard of the State of Georgia and the United States and to cultivate and promote a better understanding of the purposes and ideals of the Guard by the people of Georgia; to cooperate with civic, philanthropic and patriotic organizations whose undertakings are not for profit, but are of vital interest to the State of Georgia and its local communities.
