RFP Deadline Extended The deadline for submitting proposals under the Commission’s current RFP at www.nfwf.org has been extended until 19 August 2009. Because the application form included a field for listing matching funds, some applicants may have been under the impression that matching funds were required. They are not. Simply enter zero (0) in the field for Matching Amount, and you will be able to complete your submission. We apologize for any confusion. See the following paragraph for details on our solicitation. If you have additional questions, please contact Stephanie Pendergrass at the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation or Bob Gisiner at the Commission (301-504-0087). The Marine Mammal Commission, in cooperation with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, is currently requesting proposals for research in five topic areas: (1) Marine Mammals and Climate Change in the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea; (2) Calibration of New Methods for Surveying Marine Mammals; (3) Alternative Observer Coverage for Marine Mammal Species at High Risk from Fishery Interactions; (4) Building Capacity for Marine Mammal Research and Conservation in the Caribbean Region; and (5) Assessment and Conservation of Sirenians. Deadline for submission is 5:00 PM, eastern daylight time, on 19 August 2009. For details and application instructions, click here. Annual Meeting The 2009 annual meeting of the Marine Mammal Commission and its Committee of Scientific Advisors on Marine Mammals will be held 2–4 December 2009 at the Hilton Prince Kuhio in Honolulu, Hawaii. Additional details and a draft agenda will be made available later.
