Here is an example of unfair treatment at work that may be based on sex:


Joanne applies at a local company that routinely hires high school students to work on construction crews. The manager, however, steers her towards a secretarial position at the company's headquarters. When Joanne is leaving, she hears the manager tell a co-worker that he did her a favor since working construction is a man's job. Joanne was discriminated against if the manager did not hire her for a crew position because she is a woman.
