Appropriations Request

North Shore Physical Therapy Initiative, Kauai ($42,000)

The requested funds will be used to purchase equipment for the North Shore Physical Therapy Initiative.

The North Shore Physical Therapy Initiative is a project designed to expand and improve essential physical therapy and rehabilitative services.  Existing North Short physical therapy services operate out of limited space, with limited equipment, and are situated in second floor locations, making it extremely difficult for patients with mobility issues, or who are recovering from joint surgery, to receive care.

Recipient: Kauai Community Health Alliance
2460 Oka Street
Kilauea, Hawaii 96754

Why this is a good use of taxpayer dollars: Many North Shore community patients are forced to drive to Lihue (45 to 90 minutes each direction), sometimes three times a week, to receive physical therapy treatment. A viable alternative has presented itself in a portion of the existing building in Kilauea.
