SERVICE DISCOVERY CAPABILITY UPDATE

PRINT PAGE Add This

The Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) Program has released a new version of the Service Discovery capability, Version 4. This new release will be replacing the existing Spiral 2.0 version. We are encouraging customers to use this new release for all of their service publishing needs. Version 4 provides the following enhancements:

  • Vastly improved user interfaces for both service publishing and service discovery
  • Integration with the DoD Metadata Registry (MDR) and the Enterprise Catalog during service publishing
  • Greatly simplified service publishing process
  • New and improved (Service Registration & Governance Working Group endorsed) service categorization taxonomy
  • Simplified authorization requirements and process.

For more information regarding Service Discovery Version 4, please visit the NCES Developer Community site on DKO.

In preparation for the retirement of the Spiral 2.0 environment, the NCES Program is also requesting existing Spiral 2.0 Service Discovery customers to review their published service information, to:

  1. Determine if the current published service information is still valid
  2. Identify which services need to be reregistered in the new Service Discovery environment
  3. Determine if there are any unique circumstances related to the current Spiral 2.0 service publishing that will require special consideration during migration, such as:
    1. Unique taxonomy requirements
    2. Service information access control requirements
    3. Dynamic (UDDI API) access to service information
  4. Begin the process of migrating data from the Spiral 2.0 environment to Service Discovery Version 4.

The NCES Program appreciates your support during this transition and apologizes in advance for any inconvenience it may present. We also thank you for your continued use of NCES services.
