| FORECAST SUMMARY: Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 through Friday, August 14th, 2009\n\n\nOZONE: 8-hour Ozone concentrations are expected to be Good to Moderate through the forecast period. \n\nPM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations are also expected to be mostly Good to Low Moderate through the forecast period.\n\n\nFORECAST DISCUSSION:\n\nThe forecast models are indicating that the weekend will be very interesting from an air quality perspective. As of Wednesday, winds are light but biased from a northerly component. That will keep mid-week air quality Good throughout the state.\n\nDuring Thursday, winds will shift to a southeast direction and will be very light or calm. Temperatures will rise to the low to mid 80s with dew points staying down around the 60 degree mark. This is somewhat dry for prime ozone formation but the light winds will encourage the beginning of some local stagnation. \n\nPersistent calm conditions will persist into Friday morning and then become biased from the south and then southwest. With the local stagnation and winds shifting to the southwest, we can expect to see some increase in the ozone levels. How much and how soon are the big questions. Dew points are still fairly low on Friday and the starting background will likely be low. So it is more probable that the weekend will be of more concern than Friday, but Ill certainly be looking at the models early Thursday. If the Friday forecast needs to be modified, then it will be revised on Thursday. Otherwise, this forecast will be updated on Friday. \n\n\nEXTENDED FORECAST:\n\nThe warming trend will likely persist into the early part of the upcoming week.
