Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) issued the following statement after the President’s town meeting in New Hampshire today where he discussed the Democrats’ government-run health care plan as well as improved protections for Americans with pre-existing medical conditions who are seeking health coverage:

“House Republicans agree that reforms to help Americans with pre-existing medical conditions are an important part of fixing what’s wrong with our health care system. That’s why we included innovative policies to address those concerns in the Republican health care plan we released nearly two months ago. But sensible, effective reforms to improve the care and coverage Americans receive does not require a government takeover of health care or job-killing taxes and mandates on small businesses.

“When will the President candidly confront the terrible flaws in the legislation that Washington Democrats have produced on Capitol Hill, and work with Republicans on the real, bipartisan reforms that the American people want and deserve? Americans don’t want a better sales pitch; they want a better plan to lower costs and improve the quality of health care.”
