LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES ON COASTAL RESTORATION & FLOOD CONTROL TO HOLD
SPECIAL HEARING IN SOUTH LA
CITIZENS URGED TO ATTEND TO LEARN THE LATEST ABOUT LA'S COASTAL
RESTORATION AND FLOOD CONTROL EFFORTS
The members of the Senate Select Committee on Coastal Restoration and
Flood Control and the House Special Committee on Coastal Restoration and
Flood Control will meet jointly to hold a special hearing in south
Louisiana Thursday, Oct. 25TH. The hearing, which begins at 5:30 PM at
the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) in Chauvin, is
designed to give lawmakers and the public the latest information on state
and federal action regarding Louisiana coastal restoration and flood
control efforts including progress on coastal protection issues since the
hurricanes and implementation of the Master Plan and Coastal Wetlands
Planning, Protection and Restoration
Act (CWPPRA) projects. Interested citizens are invited to attend and offer
comments.
The special legislative hearing will follow an announcement at 5:00 PM
from Louisiana Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott
Angelle regarding the Houma Navigational Canal Lock Complex, an integral
part of the Morganza to the Gulf project.

and Flood Control will also participate in a CWPPRA Projects Dedication
Ceremony beginning at 10:30 AM Friday, October 26th at LUMCON. The
ceremony will celebrate the progress of key coastal restoration projects
in the St. Mary and Terrebonne parishes area.
