VOLUNTEER ANNOUNCEMENT!

Learn to landscape with native plants while helping to create an
educational garden!

Event: Demonstration Native Garden Planting
Location: Lumen Christi Retreat Center
100 Lumen Christi Court, Hwy 311, Schriever
Date: Friday, June 8th, 2007
Time: 9:00am

Native plants and animals have co-existed here for countless generations.
They are interdependent; plants need animals to help fertilize them and
animals need plants for food and shelter. Native plants are generally
more attractive to local wildlife and more likely to survive seasonal
extremes in rainfall and temperature. Exotic plants, which originate from
other parts of the world, have the potential to become invasive pests,
spreading rapidly and destroying the habitat value of entire ecosystems.
We need your help planting a demonstration native garden so we can share
the benefits of native plants with the entire region.
