WETLAND HERITAGE-CULTURE EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

ACADIAN HERITAGE WEEK SHOWING OF DOCUMENTARY, REVEIL: WAKING UP FRENCH

As part of Acadian Heritage Week, there will be a special screening of the
documentary, Reveil: Waking Up French, in Thibodaux at Jean Lafitte
National Historic Park and Preserves' Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center,
314 St. Mary Street on Thursday, October 12th at 6:30 P.M. Filmmaker, Ben
Levine, will be present to discuss his work with New England
Franco-Americans faced with the loss of a heritage language. The event is
sponsored by Louisiane a la carte. Admission is free.

Louisiane a la carte is a nonprofit organization concerned with preserving
Louisiana's French heritage and language through community and media

The 3rd Annual Voice of the Wetlands Festival
Exhibitors & Volunteers Needed

Exhibitors needed!
Exhibitors help spread the word about Louisiana's wetland issues at the
3rd Annual Voice of the Wetlands Festival (VOW) in Houma, Louisiana. The
theme this year is "Coastal Education & Awareness." Reserve a booth and
spread the message about coastal restoration, flood protection, habitat
and land loss, among other things unique to South Louisiana to a diverse
national audience October 13-15, 2006 in Houma, La. To accomplish this,
VOW needs exhibitors - non profits agencies or companies, who can help get
the word out about South Louisiana's unique culture and "working coast."
Exhibits and content will need to pass the VOW committee - no sales,
protest or political campaign messages will be allowed from exhibits. The
exhibit entry fee is FREE and tables and chairs will be provided. Please

Voice of the Wetlands Festival is requesting volunteers to help with this
year's festival in Houma LA on October 13-15th. VOW is a volunteer-based
organization and needs more help in the food, kids and general areas of
the festival as well as set up and clean up before and after the festival.

Wild Things Festival
Annual Wildlife Refuges Event to Return October 14

The annual Wild Things festival, celebrating National Wildlife Refuges in
southeastern Louisiana, will take place in Lacombe, LA on Saturday,
October 14, 2006. The event returns after a one-year hiatus due to
Hurricane Katrina.

Food and live music will round out Wild Things, which will take place from
9 am to 4 pm at refuges headquarters at 61389 Hwy. 434 in Lacombe. Take
I-12 to exit 74, then go two miles south to the refuge entrance.
