Nurturing our wild, wet, environments is crucial to life in Louisiana.
The primary goal of Gatorfest is to inform the public about the value of
healthy wetlands and of the role they can play in helping to preserve them.

Last year over 1500 visitors enjoyed this free event. The fun includes
van and boat tours of the refuge, live music, delicious food, and
informative exhibits from over 25 conservation organizations. A few new
surprises are planned for this year!

Gatorfest is easy to get to! It takes place just off Interstate 10 at
Exit 251, in the heart of Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge, in
eastern New Orleans.

Wetland Workshop Series

The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation is organizing a Wetlands
Workshop Series! The series is based on LPBF's, A Citizen's Guide to
Protecting Wetlands in the Pontchartrain Basin, which serves to educate
and involve the local community in efforts to protect important
environmental resources.

The workshops are designed in a single 2-hour block and place major
focus on how citizens can get involved in protecting wetland resources
while providing a basic overview of environmental regulations and the
wetlands permitting process. Copies of the guide will be available to
those who complete the workshop.
