Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act Meeting of the
Technical Committee

AGENDA
1. Outreach Committee Annual Report and New Initiatives (Gabrielle
Bodin) 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Ms. Bodin will report on Outreach
Committee activities for the last year and present a brief synopsis of
upcoming activities and new budget initiatives being proposed for FY02.
2. Planning Budget for FY 02 (Podany and Browning) 9:45 a.m. to 11:15
a.m. The Planning and Evaluation Subcommittee will provide a proposed FY
02 Planning Budget request. The Technical Committee will make a
recommendation on the final project selection process for Priority
Project List 12 and overall planning budget. Part of this item will
involve reaching consensus on the scope of work of the adaptive
management proposal prior to Task Force approval.
3. Request for Increase in Phase 1 Funding for Maurepas Swamp
Diversion (Podany) 11:15 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. The Planning and Evaluation
Subcommittee will provide a recommendation to correct the baseline Phase
1 cost estimate for this project to reflect the fully funded Economic
Workgroup figure ($5,434,288). The phase 1 figure reported to the Task
Force ($5,199,000) on 7 Aug did not represent the fully-funded amount.
4. Deauthorization of the Bayou Bienvenue Project (Sweeney) 11:25 a.m.
to 11:35 a.m. NMFS, with DNR's concurrence, will request initiation
deauthorization of the Bayou Bienvenue project.
5. Request for Construction Approval for the Mandalay Bank Protection
Demonstration Project (Podany) 11:35 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The Planning
and Evaluation Subcommittee will present a request for construction
approval.
6. Request for Change in Project Descriptions (Hicks) 11:45 a.m. to
12:10 p.m. Mr. Hicks will provide recommendations concerning the
following:
a. A request by the Corps of Engineers to change the phasing of the
Bonnet Carre Opportunistic Use project from 2 phases to 1 phase, due to
the fact that there is no first cost of construction. The change will
facilitate implementation.
b. A request by the Corps of Engineers to use the approved funds for
the Cutterhead / Dustpan Demonstration Project for a substitute Dustpan
project already designed by the Waterways Experiment Station.
7. Bayou Lafourche Update (McQuiddy) 12:10 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mr.
McQuiddy will report on the status of the Bayou Lafourche project.
8. Additional Agenda Items 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
