STATE'S  COASTAL  RESTORATION WORK CELEBRATED

Barataria Bay Waterway West Bank Protection Project Dedication
and Tenth Anniversary of the Breaux Act

Friday, October 20, 2000 at 4:00 p.m.
C & M Fuel Dock & Marina Pavilion, Hwy. 45, Lafitte, Louisiana

The Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA)
Task Force dedicates the Barataria Bay Waterway West Bank Protection
project and celebrates ten years of the Breaux Act in coastal Louisiana.

   The project is located in Jefferson Parish and features dredging
work, rock protection, and a water control structure.
   Federal and state cost share. Project partners are USDA Natural
Resources Conservation Service, Louisiana Department of Natural
Resources, and Jefferson parish government.
   Dedication event includes a cochon de lait and boat tour to the
project site. The event will also commemorate coastal restoration
accomplishments in Louisiana over the past ten years through CWPPRA,
also known as the Breaux Act.

Directions to C & M pavilion:
Take Lafitte-Larose Hwy. (LA 3134) to Lafitte.  After crossing the
Intracoastal Waterway (bridge), the Lafitte-Larose highway dead-ends at
Hwy. 45 (Jean Lafitte Blvd.).  Turn left onto Hwy. 45 and continue
approximately 8.2 miles.  At 4-way stop, take right and continue on Hwy.
45 (2nd Street) for .1 miles to C & M Marina sign.  Turn left at Jean
Lafitte Blvd. and proceed about 2 miles to Kenal Road.  Follow signs to
C & M Marina (not to be confused with Sea-Way Marina), and continue past
Texaco dock on to shell parking lot.  Pavilion is at end of parking lot.
