Task Force to Meet in Lafayette
NEW ORLEANS-The multi-agency task force that is planning and constructing projects to protect Louisiana's coastal wetlands will meet Wed., April 14, at the Estuarine Habitat & Coastal Fisheries Center in Lafayette.
Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting, which starts at 9:30 a.m. The coastal fisheries center is located at 646 Cajundome Blvd in Lafayette.
The quarterly meeting of the Louisiana Coastal Wetlands Conservation and Restoration Task Force will include discussion of the following topics:
- Proposed Coast 2050 federal feasibility study.
- Selection of candidate projects for the 9th Priority Project List.
- Establishment of a task force on closing the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet.
- Status of the Barrier Shoreline Feasibility Study.
The Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act of 1990 created the task force to develop and conduct a program aimed at saving Louisiana's disappearing coastal marshland. Each year the task force approves a new list of priority projects for design and construction across the coastline of Louisiana.
