Announcement: Dates and Locations

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will conduct public meetings in Kansas City (Kansas), Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), and Seattle (Washington) on draft objectives for Healthy People 2020 in October and November 2009.  Participation is open to public.

Online registration will open in mid-August.  Further information on the public meeting venues and detailed agendas by location will be posted as they are available.

Purpose

The purpose of the meetings is to receive public comment on the draft Healthy People 2020 objectives and topic areas.  HHS is also interested in receiving recommendations on strategies to make national health improvement progress across a range of diseases, conditions, behaviors and determinants of health.  Please select here for a draft outline of the public meetings agenda.

Participants will be provided the draft set of Healthy People 2020 topic areas, objectives and meeting materials in advance of the public meeting date.

Who Should Attend

Participation at the public meetings is open to all individuals interested in the health and wellness of their communities and the nation, including state and local governments, community-based organizations, advocacy groups, professional associations, research and academic institutions, healthcare providers and clinicians, and business.
