[Support Center Home]
Q: If I am a freight forwarder, do I need to enter the Freight Forwarder information into AESDirect for each EEI I submit?
A: No, when you log in, your Username allows AESDirect to identify your Freight Forwarder profile. This information will be automatically attached to your EEI by AESDirect before it is sent to AES.
Q: Can a forwarder or consolidator be listed as the USPPI (U.S. Principal Party in Interest) on a shipment?
A: No, a forwarder or consolidator cannot be listed as the USPPI. More Information on USPPI.
Q: If I am a freight forwarder, do I need to enter party information before I file an EEI?
A: For the USPPI, Yes, for the other parties, No. Before you can file the first EEI for a USPPI you should go to the USPPI Profile setup, enter, and send the information. Once this is done, you can then identify the USPPI by simply entering his code, or using the look-up. The other parties (e.g. Consignee) are setup automatically as you enter their information for the first time on a EEI. Their information can also be entered or edited in the Consignee Profile Maintenance option.
