Real Property Asset Management (RPAM)

On February 4, 2004, the President signed Executive Order 13327, Federal Real Property Asset Management, to improve the management of real property on a Government-wide level. This order created an interagency Federal Real Property Council to develop real property guidance for Government-wide application. It also directed every Agency to develop an Asset Management Plan to promote better management and the disposal of unneeded Federal properties. Accordingly the Secretary of Department of Energy issued DOE Order 430.1B “Real Property Asset Management” to ensure real property assets are maintained in a manner that promotes operational readiness, safety, environmental protection, property preservation, and life-cycle cost-effectiveness while meeting the Department’s missions. The DOE's Real Propery Asset Management Plan (pdf) provides the overall strategies for managing the Department’s real property assets and the Three-year Rolling Timeline (pdf) provides the goals, milestones, and measures for measuring success within the overall strategy.

The Department provides quarterly reports to the Office of Management and Budget on progress towards the Three Year Rolling Timeline goals.
