The Supreme Court of the United States today announced it will entertain public comment on proposed revisions to its Rules of procedure, the guidelines that govern how cases are processed and argued before the Court. Copies of the proposed revisions are available from the Court’s Public Information Office and various legal publishers and other organizations.

The proposed revisions are accompanied by “Clerk’s Comments.” These are not part of the Rules, but are furnished to assist readers in understanding the proposed changes.

The Court revised the Rules in May of 1997. The proposed changes are minor adjustments to the Rules now in effect. The proposed effective date of the revisions is May 3, 1999. Comments must be received by November 30, 1998, and should be submitted in writing to:
