Committee Assignments
Congressman Kline currently serves on the following committees in the House of Representatives.
Education and Labor: In 2009, Congressman Kline was chosen by his peers to serve as the ranking Republican on the 50-member Education and Labor Committee. The Education and Labor Committee has a dual mission: empowering parents and teachers to provide our students with the best education possible, and giving American workers access to the tools and protections they need to meet the challenges and opportunities of the new economy. Prior to becoming the ranking Republican on the Education and Labor Committee, Congressman Kline served as the ranking Republican member on the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee (HELP), which is responsible for all matters associated with the relationships between employers and employees, including retirement security and pension, health, and other employee benefits.
- Military Personnel: This subcommittee is responsible for military personnel policy, reserve component integration and employment issues, military health care, military education, and POW/MIA issues. In addition, the subcommittee will be responsible for morale, welfare, and recreation issues and programs.
- Terrorism, Unconventional Threats, and Capabilities: Issues under the jurisdiction of this subcommittee include DOD counter proliferation and counter terrorism programs and initiatives. In addition, the subcommittee will be responsible for Special Operations Forces, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, information technology policy and programs, force protection policy and oversight, and related intelligence support.
