Cass County

Cass County lies along Texas's eastern boundary and borders Arkansas and Lousiana.  It is represented by both the First and Fourth Congressional Districts. Linden serves as the county seat, and other cities within the area include Avenger, Hughes Springs, Atlanta, and Queens City.

The rolling hills of Cass County are covered in pines, making the area a heavy timber producer. Poultry and cattle are also a significant part of its agricultural income. The County lies within the Texas Forest Trail Region, offering many activities to enjoy the thick forests, including camping, hiking, fishing, birding, and biking.

Cass County was formed from Bowie County in 1846 and named in honor of Michigan Senator Lewis Cass who supported the annexation of Texas.  For more information about Cass County, visit www.co.cass.tx.us/ips/cms.
