Your Feedback

As the AIDS.gov team looks to restructure the website content and design with the goal of providing Basic HIV/AIDS information, use of New Media in response to HIV/AIDS, and Federal Resources, we have asked for your feedback on the content and design of AIDS.gov and you have responded. Here is a small sample of what people have said about AIDS.gov:

Your thoughts

Received between 3/31/2009 and 6/1/2009

"This site is wonderful and provides good information for people like me but it does not reach the people in the community that need it. I would love to see programs where real people can share this information with real people in the community who do not have access to it."
"Please open your site to those suffering from HIV/AIDS to share their stories and best practices about how they are faring. Please get to the heart of HIV/AIDS by opening meaningful dialogue and allowing people to speak the truth, even if it is unpopular."
NOTE: We encourage you to share stories through the AIDS.gov blog and Facebook group, or by going to the CDC's Act Against AIDS. HIV/AIDS affects everyone. Sharing your story, your knowledge, and your compassion can change lives.
"I am doing a research project on AIDS, focused mainly in South Africa. I need a current status on AIDS or at least a current event. Your site looks like it has great information but I think you should post something with statistics and other up to date things."
NOTE: Great point. The CDC recently updated their demographic HIV/AIDS surveillance data with 2006 numbers so we will be updating our fact sheets soon. Typically as guidelines go, they are updated in some fashion every year or two depending on the institution and collection. When new data comes out, we strive to get it up on the site as quickly as possible, but if we miss something, we appreciate you pointing it out.
"I really enjoy the way your sight is set up, it is awesome for research :)"
"You could make it more teen friendly!"
"I think you should make it just a little more informational so that a student researching this topic is able to understand how everything happens."
"I think you should mention the different kinds of treatments and their prices. How much we're going to spend each year on the drugs would be nice to know."
NOTE: Stay tuned as we are in the process of restructuring the content, structure, and design of AIDS.gov!
"People who already have HIV have enough information about how to get or not get the disease we need more assistance in helping us with opportunities for jobs, education meaning going back to school."
NOTE: Have a look at AIDSinfo at NIH. It has a list of HIV/AIDS hotlines, information on cross-cultural education, and skills training along with many other resources.
"Hi. I recently found out I got AIDS from my partner. I like this site a lot. It helped me learn more about our condition."

Received prior to 3/30/2009

"I like the site design, would love to see more linkages to services like the HIV test site search."
"You all are doing a fantastic job of being an out-in-front leader in social media with HIV/AIDS - I try to refer as many colleagues as possible. Everything is easy to read and navigate. Thanks for doing this!"
"Make it mobile accessible. The future is mobile and the target market for awareness is there. This site doesn't resize properly on iPhone: is unreadable."
- NOTE: We have updated the site to be more iPhone friendly and we are looking to develop a better interface for mobile users.
"I like this site because it's informative and it's very useful into what I need for my project. Thanks! Keep up the excellent work."
"It needs to be cleaned-up! http://thebody.com has a decent design minus the ads."
"Missing the basic tennets of site design: Primary and Secondary navigation across the top. Contextual navigation on the left. Features and hot topics on the right. Tertiary navigation on the bottom."
- NOTE: One of the primary focuses of the AIDS.gov site restructure will be to update the site navigation.
"We couldn't find the history very well, but other than that, this website was very educational!!"
"It is a good site. It needs more info on transmission, reproduction, symptoms, treatments, and diagrams"
"Wow that video on advances in hope is really good. It beats lookin through tons of paragraphs to find information when u can just watch the video and take notes. I'm doing a research project on AIDS and this site is really helpful. Thank you!"
"I enjoy this website, and it has alot of information on the HIV/AIDS disease. However, I see materials in both english and spanish. I work in this field and it is impossible to get information in Creole for the Haitian community that I serve and assist. I think as provider we should be able to educate everyone in every language."
"Too many links, too much small text, ads below navigation are distracting. blog/podcast/rss/social media = A+"
"Email newsletter sign up needed."
"It looks really awesome - really reader friendly and not overwhelming. I like the scrolling bar of stories above."
