The early bird gets the stimulus money, and Congressman Dan Lungren had vowed to be at the front of the line to receive it for his Third District.

During ceremonies in Rancho Cordova Tuesday morning, Lungren lauded the coordinated efforts of several city, regional and state agencies to become the first project to receive stimulus money in Sacramento County.

"I am thankful both American journalists will be returning home after being wrongfully imprisoned since March. With Laura Ling being a constituent of mine, my office has been in close contact with the State Department during this whole unfortunate event.  Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Laura and her family on this happy day."

Lungren Secures $78.7 Million for Sacramento Area Flood Control

Bill will head to the Senate for debate

Washington, DC - Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA) today voted in favor of a bill that would bring much needed flood control funds to the Sacramento region. H.R. 3183, the Energy and Water Appropriations Act of 2010, is the first step in a three part process. The second step will send the bill to the Senate for debate and revision. When both House and Senate versions are agreed to, this bill will make available funds for various energy and water projects in the California's 3rd Congressional District in 2010.

Washington D.C. - Today Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA) released the following statement concerning the withdrawal of U.S. forces from major Iraqi cities. This marks an important milestone as the country's security forces take the lead in securing the Iraqi population in urban areas:

"Today is the day our armed forces turn over security operations, in major urban areas, solely to the Iraqis themselves.  Two years ago, the Iraqi Surge Strategy began. Its primary goal was to help increase the level of security in Bagdad and Al Anbar province. Violence has declined dramatically since then and today some 500,000 Iraqi police will command the streets. This day is an important step forward for the people of Iraq.
