Health Care

Forty-seven million Americans currently lack health insurance, including nearly two million in Illinois. This is unacceptable. I will continue to fight for a health care system that provides universal coverage and extensive provider choice for all Americans.

President Obama and the Democratic Congress have committed to reforming our health care system to finally address the large number of uninsured Americans.  We are currently working on a proposal that will cover every American, end the unfair practice of denying coverage due to "pre-existing conditions", bring down administrative and overall health care costs, and improve the quality of care across the nation. 

As a Member of the Education and Labor Committee, I have the opportunity to play a large role in drafting this new health care policy, so it is important that I hear from you.  Please contact me with your ideas and concerns so I may incorporate your views as this process progresses.
