Nearly $1.2 Billion in Grants Available to Help Doctors and Hospitals Use Electronic Health Records. The Recovery Act HITECH Grants will fund approximately 70 Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers to provide technical assistance and support.

The White House will hold two events today on health care. At 2:55 PM EDT, President Obama will hold a Town Hall on Health Insurance Reform. A Health Care Stakeholders Discussion on Seniors Issues will air live at 4:00 PM EDT.

Health Reform and the Budget

The President’s 2010 Budget lays the groundwork for reform of the American health care system, most notably by setting aside a deficit-neutral reserve fund of $635 billion over 10 years to help finance reform of our health care system to bring down costs, expand coverage, and improve quality.
