As a United States Senator, part of my job is to know the funding priorities of our state of California so that I can support those that help create jobs, rebuild our infrastructure, and provide important resources to our children, seniors, and families.

In an effort to make the appropriations process more transparent, Democrats in the Senate and the House recently enacted additional requirements for Members of Congress making funding requests.

As of 2007, rules required that each appropriations bill list the name of the Member of Congress making the request, and every member had to certify that he/she had no financial interest in the item requested.

This year, members are required to post all of their spending requests online, and those included in appropriations bills will become public information on the day the bill is voted out of the relevant Appropriations subcommittee.

Recognizing current budget realities, only a small percentage of the projects I request will actually receive federal funding. But these projects reflect important priorities requested by cities, counties, and not-for-profits throughout California that I believe merit consideration.

Please note that spending requests for each appropriations bill are due on different dates, so this webpage will be updated accordingly.
