Rural Housing Service

Loans to serve home ownership & home repair needs for low- and moderate-income families.  When eligible, grants for home repairs are possible for elderly, very-low income homeowners.

Loans to develop rental housing for low and moderate income individuals and families in rural areas with a population less than 20,000.

Develops essential community facilities for public use in rural areas.  Municipalities, counties, special-purpose districts, Indian Tribes and non-profit corporations may apply.  When eligible, grants are possible to reduce development costs.

Rural Utilities Service

Loans to develop water & waste disposal systems in rural areas & towns not exceeding 10,000 population.  When eligible, grants are possible to reduce development costs to a reasonable level for rural users.

Loans to develop electric distribution and sub-transmission facilities.

Loans to develop telecommunications infrastructure and services in rural areas, featuring our "Distance Learning and Telemedicine" program.

Rural Business-Cooperative Service

Loans to help develop emerging businesses that will bring employment opportunities to rural areas. Grants for public bodies & private non-profit corporations to facilitate development of small emerging private business enterprises in rural areas.

Loans and grants to help rural residents form new cooperative businesses and improve the operations of existing cooperatives.
