Emergency Management Agency Receives DHS Funding

(Warwick, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today announced funding for the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency through the Department of Homeland Security’s Emergency Management Performance Grant program. The award comes out of the DHS Preparedness Directorate's Office of Grants and Training.

“This funding will help keep Rhode Island on track in preparing for natural disasters and acts of terror,” said Langevin, Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity and Science and Technology. “It will also continue to ensure our first responders have the support and training they need to keep our communities safe.”

RI EMA will receive$1,876,560. The Emergency Management Performance Grant Program helps EMA officials implement their strategic goals and objectives and helps them sustain the effectiveness of their programs. As in prior years, there is continued emphasis on catastrophic planning priorities, including those initiatives found in the Nationwide Plan Review.
