Fonseca Participates in Page Program

(Warwick, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today announced that Cara Fonseca of Cranston is serving as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives this month. Fonseca will be a senior at Cranston High School West in September.

“I am proud to have Cara participating in the page program,” said Langevin. “She is an outstanding young adult who has balanced a successful academic career with many extra-curricular activities and a part-time job. I have no doubt this program will be an invaluable experience for her.”

Fonseca is Student Council president and a member Falconettes Precision Drill Team and the dance team. She is also a member of the foreign language honor society and played Lacrosse.

To become a page, a student must be at least 16 years old and must have completed grade 10 but not yet entered grade 12. The Page Board requires applicants to be U.S. citizens and to have maintained a 3.0 grade point average in their major subjects in grades nine and ten.

Applicants can only be appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Every session the Speaker chooses a different group of House members to submit nominations.
