(Warwick, R.I.) Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today released the following statement regarding the Coast Guard’s final review of Weaver’s Cove Energy’s proposal to use smaller liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers:

“I applaud and support the Coast Guard’s findings that the waterway ‘is unsuitable from a navigation safety perspective’ for LNG tankers. The decision they released today only confirms what many have suspected -- that the proposed location and route are not appropriate or safe for LNG deliveries. I will continue to ensure that our concerns and the concerns of my constituents are reflected in the public process, should officials for Weaver’s Cove Energy seek an appeal.”
