today announced that Providence Mayor David Cicilline will attend President
Bush's State of the Union Address as his guest. "Mayor Cicilline represents a new era of public service in the City of Providence," said Congressman Langevin. "His pledges to make city government open, honest and responsive are goals that I share and those that many in public service strive towards. Mayor Cicilline is a breath of fresh air that the citizens of Providence hope will sweep across the city and serve as the catalyst for opportunity in all neighborhoods. I am eager to work with him in the coming years on issues of importance to the people of Providence." “It is an enormous honor to be invited by Congressman Langevin to attend the State of the Union address,” said Providence Mayor David Cicilline. “The Congressman underscores his appreciation of the profound impact of federal activities on cities such as Providence by this invitation, and I am delighted by his kind invitation to be his guest at this event.” Each Member of Congress is permitted to invite one guest to the State of the Union.
