Junior Ranger Program

Yorktown Battlefield has a Junior Ranger Program. The program was developed to allow families to learn together and are designed for children through the age of 12. Each Junior Ranger Program takes about two hours to complete. Booklets can be purchased from the book store. Experience the end of colonial America with the final major battle of the American Revolution to become a Yorktown Junior Ranger. Successful completion of the program earns a certificate of achievement and a patch symbolizing the historic nature of the site.

April 25, 2009 Junior Ranger Day

Special activities for children will enable them to earn Junior Ranger patches. Colonial National Historical Park, Yorktown and Historic Jamestowne.

 

 

Jamestown and Yorktown Park Packs

Seven park packs that highlight different aspects of the Jamestown and Yorktown stories are available from the Williamsburg Regional Library. These packs are filled with books, videos and activities that relate to Jamestown archeology, famous people, nature, crafts, and industries and to the Revolutionary War at Yorktown.

 

Young Soldiers Program

Join a costumed Interpreter to learn about life at the Siege of Yorktown. Program includes a hands on activity. The program occurs from mid-June to mid-August. Times for the program will vary depending on staffing.

Did You Know?
Thomas Nelson, Jr., is one of Yorktown's most famous residents. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, served as Governor of Virginia in 1781, and commanded the Virginia militia during the 1781 siege of his hometown. His home still bears damage from the bombardment during the siege.
