Engineering | Alaska District | Pacific Ocean Division (POD)

Greetings!

Welcome to the Civil Works Branch of the Alaska District. The Civil Works Branch studies potential water resource projects in Alaska. These studies, usually requested by a community in Alaska, analyze and solve water resource issues of concern to the local communities. These issues may involve navigational improvements, flood control or ecosystem restoration.

Besides studying water resource issues, we also track flood hazard data for over 300 Alaskan communities on floodplains or the sea coast. These data help local communities assess the risk of floods to their communities and prepare for potential future floods.
