I think teaching, ESL teaching included, is an art and a discipline with a
body of knowledge, research and strategies that assist one in teaching. Some
teachers are born; that is they have some good instict about teaching and
easily establish rapport with students -but even they can broaden the way
they provide instruction to students who have different ways of learning and
different abilities. If teaching is a profession that the education,
journals etc. should deepen the practitioners ability to teach. Are doctors
born? lawyers?
