(I believe it is from 2- 4.45pm) The academic session is hge Adult Interest Group's chance to showcase an issue of realimpirtance. This year it is on "Critical perspectives on teaching adult ESL." There will be some excellent speakers at this session including Jim Cummins, Elsa Auerbach and Tara Goldstein. The abstract reads: Language educators interested in critical approaches to teaching ESL focus on the ways language learning can provide students with more control over their everyday living and working conditions and realtionships. They are also interested in exploring ways that students and teachers might challenge the discrimination and social inequities which are part of students lives.
