FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE --San Diego, CA -- March 19, 2009 --- Frankly Natural Bakers™ has announced a nationwide voluntary recall of products listed below due to concerns over possible contamination with Salmonella. These specific products (and expiration dates) were manufactured using peanuts sourced from the Peanut Corporation of America, which has been the subject of an ongoing investigation by the FDA.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
Frankly Natural Bakers’ products affected by this recall were distributed throughout the U.S. and sold by grocery, natural food stores nationwide in addition to direct orders taken on the Frankly Natural Web site

Other varieties and expiration dates of Frankly Natural Bakers’ products do not include peanuts from PCA and are not affected by this recall.
No known illnesses or complaints have ever been reported to date in connection with any Frankly Natural Bakers’ products.
